Hands-On HVAC Training
Among reputable HVAC franchises, DUCTZ offers hands-on training that stands head and shoulders above the rest. Before opening your new location, all franchise owners come to our state-of-the-art training facility in Ann Arbor, MI to learn everything there is to know about HVAC units, air ducts, dryer vents, and every other part of a building’s heating and cooling system. At our facility, you’ll learn to work with every type of HVAC unit, as well as every make and model of clothes dryers, including large commercial dryers. Our master instructors will teach you our methodology for improving indoor air quality and train you on our best-in-class equipment. Once you’ve left Ann Arbor, you’ll be totally prepared to provide services for both commercial and residential properties.
What to Know About HVAC Certification
If you are going to work on HVAC units yourself, you’ll need to learn how to get HVAC certified. All HVAC contractors in the United States are required by the Environmental Protection Agency to pass a one-time refrigerant handling exam and hold an EPA Section 608 certification. In addition, most states have standards for on-the-job training and trade exams that are set by a state licensing board. Many states follow an apprentice-journeyman-master model, which can take some time to make your way through. Your state may have additional requirements, so researching what is expected in the state where you’ll be working is key. There are a handful of states that don’t require HVAC certification, but you’ll still want to check and make sure you’re compliant with all labor and trade organization standards. This process can take at least a few years to complete, so it’s a good idea to hire HVAC technicians who are already certified. Working with qualified experts goes a long way toward building trust within your community and with your new customers.
